We are looking for a long-term oriented and motivated Product Owner (PO) to join the Onninen eCom team. Maybe you have background in Building and Technical trade and you always have wanted to be part of the digital development. Or maybe you have already gained some experience from being a Product Owner but wanted to be part of real webshop development – this could be your next career move!

The Onninen eCom Team

The mission of the team is developing the Onninen eCom and digital solutions for Finland, Sweden, Norway and Baltics. Our team has developed own eCom-platform, Sales tool and mobile application for serving Onninen B2B businesses in mentioned countries. Dev team is a distributed and multinational agile software development team. We are fulfilling business needs by developing front-ends and microservice capabilities integrating with the back-ends. We subscribe to a DevOps-philosophy – everyone is empowered to not just implement features, but also to improve and support the platform.

Our team’s responsibilities :
– Developing and maintaining web applications and services using React, Next.js and Java (Spring).
– Interacting and collaborating with stakeholders in a multinational environment to build high quality user experience
– Balancing the work between business and technical development needs
– Writing clean, maintainable and efficient code
– Ensuring our applications are fast, scalable and responsive
– Keeping up to date with the latest developments in web technologies
– Contributing to our team’s and Kesko’s software development practices

Product Owner

As a Product Owner you are as a servant of the team, managing backlog for the team as a feature team scrum master, clarifying specs with business counterparts and making sure good flow and fluent progress. You really want to understand our business and you love to work in tight collaboration with different stakeholders. We are using agile approach in our development, and we are responsible for taking care of production incidents as well. As a Product Owner, you can strongly develop your role forward and we are expecting from you that continuous improvement model relates tightly also to processes and not only to development.

In this role you get chance to
– To act as a backlog owner for the multinational development team
– Work daily with your business stakeholders and, of course, with your own development team
– To actively and open-mindedly bring up your ideas on how we can further improve the user experience in our services.
– Develop Product Owner processes with our Product Owner team
– To be at the heart of Onninen webshop and digital development

What we are looking for:
– Experience in the role of Product Owner or equivalent project management experience.
– The ability to break entities down into smaller, feasible pieces is essential
– Understanding why flow optimization is smarter than resource optimization. And the ability to say no rather than take one more thing to work on
– Experience to create real customer value through software development. It is important to understand the desired value, and not just push features out of the pipeline
– Willingness to understand the technical side of the system, even if you don’t know how to code. You are interested in why a function needs to be refactored, or what compromises are made if automated tests are in danger of not being done or dependencies are not updated
– Fluent communication in Finnish and English. Our team’s working language is English.
– An applicable degree or equivalent work experience for such a role.
– Experience as a hardware store or building contractor can help you understand our customers better!
– Willingness to show up at the Kalasatama office in Helsinki at least once a week, where our business team hangs out with us. Yes, we work remotely a lot, but we value face-to-face encounters just as much
