We’re building digital services that make everyday in-store shopping smoother for both our staff and our customers. In the next few years, we’ll be putting a big focus on improving self-service experiences, and to make it happen, we are looking for a backend focused Fullstack Developer to join our S-ostoslista team.

S-ostoslista is a mobile application designed to streamline in-store shopping, from planning purchases to collecting them in the store. It is a highly appreciated application with a well-established user base. Yet, we believe there is still room for improvement. With its upcoming features, the application will play a key role in driving the growth of self-service shopping.

While S-ostoslista is primarily designed for customers, store personnel are an equally important stakeholder group. The new features will be developed and piloted during 2025 in close co-operation with Fraud Control team. Other key stakeholders in the Store Operations area include the Sales Flow team, which develops shared event-based backend services, as well as the Kassapalvelut and Kerää ja Skannaa teams.

Your responsibilities and requirements

– Your main task will be to produce high-quality logic for the backend functions. You are an analytical problem solver who remembers the importance of testing, security, and product-oriented thinking in application development. When necessary, you are ready for quick experiments and can also assist in frontend development.

– The development within the S-ostoslista team is fast-paced and requires continuous dialogue both within the team and with sister teams. As a fullstack/backend engineer in the team, you will want to create sustainable and maintainable code.

– We have a great team of skilled developers and from you we hope that you have a senior mindset. In terms of relevant work years that can mean a variety of things, but we hope that you are able to comprehend the bigger picture and take independent actions based on that. You do not need to be fully learned yet, but you should be able to participate in planning and working without detailed instructions. On the other hand, you follow the agreed-upon rules. Finnish language skills are not mandatory for this position; however, you may occasionally collaborate with stakeholders in different operational areas where Finnish is commonly used as the working language.

– TypeScript
– Serverless Framework
– GraphQL (AWS AppSync)
– OpenSearch
– DynamoDB
– Understanding of event-driven architecture helps with backend integrations

The S-ostoslista team and its sister teams spend a lot of time at Ässäkeskus, at least two days a week, exchanging ideas and developing the area together towards world-class self-service. We assume a willingness to work closely and strong communication skills.
