Senior WordPress backend developer

Are you a seasoned WordPress developer bored of building yet another media & text block? Are you ready to level up your WordPress game and work on demanding integrations, backend functionalities and mid- and large-scale WordPress websites? If so, we want you to join our team!

In this position, you will join a team of project managers, developers and designers to develop high-quality websites and web services for a variety of local and global clients from different industries. We work with some of the coolest clients out there, like Rovio, Messukeskus, Granlund, Evac, and the Finnish Heart Association, just to name a few. At Evermade, we take high quality and excellent results seriously, but have fun achieving them.

– Full-time role starting in August 2024
– Location: Offices in Helsinki, Turku and Oulu, remote from Finland is also possible.
– Salary range 4200-5000 €/month depending on your skills and experience

As a senior developer, you will:
– Be involved in every phase of a project, from ideation to development and continuous improvement
– Participate in the scoping and estimation of projects
– Plan and implement technical solutions and architectures, taking technical leadership in projects
– Build not only websites but also more complex services with WordPress
– Build functionalities, plugins, integrations, CLI-commands, migrations, and so on
– Create blocks, and work with themes and frontend code
– Regularly meet with clients throughout the project
– Spar with other developers and arrange code reviews for developers in your team

We are not just looking for someone who can code, we’re looking for someone who can bring their own creative flair and problem-solving skills to the table. We hope that you have a passion for WordPress and working with websites. Our technology stack includes WordPress, WooCommerce, React, JavaScript, PHP, SCSS, Webpack, and Docker, among others.

To thrive in this position, you’ll need:
– 5+ years of experience in web development
– Strong experience of mid to large-sized WordPress projects, some of them preferably with the Gutenberg editor
– Strong knowledge of PHP and MySQL
– Understanding of server technologies like NGINX, PHP-FPM, MariaDB and Redis
– Good knowledge HTML, CSS, SCSS, Javascript and React
– Experience with integrations
– Fluency in written and spoken English
– A team-player attitude
– Excellent communication skills
– Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
– The willingness to support others by sharing your knowledge and the capability to ask for help whenever needed
– Knowledge of accessibility and/or experience with React Native is a plus!
