Frontend Tech Lead

We are currently seeking a Frontend Tech Lead/Senior Developer to join our development team in Helsinki. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of 8 media websites within the Alma News Media segment, including popular brands such as Kauppalehti, Talouselämä, Arvopaperi, Tivi, Tekniikka&Talous and Uusi Suomi.
You will work in a skilled and friendly team where collaboration and sharing ideas are highly valued. Your role can be that of a tech lead or a senior developer, depending on your experience, skills, and areas of interest.

It is essential to base your decisions on well-informed reasoning rather than relying solely on intuition. Moreover, you should excel at mentoring and supporting your team members, while creating an atmosphere that encourages open and honest communication.

Your responsibilities will include

– developing the frontend of the aforementioned media websites, subscription funnel, and a self-service portal. Technologies you will work with include React 18, Styled Components (CSS), Redux, SWR, Webpack, Rollup, Storybook, Github Actions, AWS Codepipeline, and Git.
– ensuring high code quality, maintainability, and security by developing team practices and workflows in collaboration with other team members.
– collaborating closely with product, design, and other development teams to ensure a smooth customer experience and reliable services
– optimizing the sites by improving technical aspects such as speed, accessibility, SEO, and Core Web Vitals. You will actively participate in creating the future frontend architecture alongside other tech leads and senior developers from News Media.

To succeed in this role you would need

– At least 5 years of experience in frontend/fullstack development in a modern cloud-based environment.
– Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and the React library is essential.
– A good understanding of UI and UX
– Strong collaboration skills within and across teams
– A business-oriented mindset is highly valued.
